2009 Happy New Year

Yeah, I know it's a little premature, but hey, I'm looking forward to it.

Let's recap some of 2008.

To start, let's just say that I know of no one and I mean NO ONE, who has not had a difficult year. The economy has stunk to no end, gas prices were through the roof, I started a business in the worst economy in 40 years, and the government is just now realizing that this can't be fixed quickly. Wall Street still doesn't know yet because every time they get some rescue cash they head for the Bahamas or some place like that. Greed, Greed, Greed.

I do have to laugh though. It has always been my experience that thieves are chronic optimists, they always think they are smarter than every one else ( that's why they get caught).
Now we can look at Wall Street, they are saying yes, things are down but they will bounce back, or they say, I don't care if it bounces back yet or not, these stock prices are great, I'm bound to make a ton of money. Sounds chronically optimistic to me. Hmmm. they must be thieves.

So... enough of '08.... now for 2009

The bottom is always a good place to start, because there is only one way to go... UP
I personally have made a pledge to myself that I will not be down for 2009. I am going to do my best to make sure that this year is a good one for all of my friends and family. I'm looking forward to growth in my small business ( not riches mind you, growth), I'm looking forward to beefing up our Motorcycle Ministry, I'm looking forward to the economy making me cut back on non essential items and desires.

I know, I know.... sounds good from here but what about when we are in the trenches?

Okay.. good point. So.... Let's all follow these steps to get a better handle on what to do.

1. Wake up... pray and thank God for the day before it happens. Start each day like it was on purpose.

2. Read a couple of verses of the bible with your morning coffee (or tea), so that those words will be with you all day.

3. Head for work....knowing that God has given you the ability to provide for your family, and thank Him for that ability.

4. Perform your work..... with professionalism, integrity and honor, knowing that if your boss can't be pleased with the job you do, how could God? work like you are doing it for God, because you are.

5. Head for home.... thanking God for the honest days work for an honest days pay. Knowing that you gave your best and can sleep without regret of what you have done or should have done better.

6. Arrive at home.... Hang your job on the front porch, don't bring it inside. Now is time for family and friends.

7. Time for Supper..... give thanks with humility for what God has provided. eat hearty, because you will need your strength for tomorrow.

8. After Supper... quality time (doesn't have to be all evening) but you must spend some kind of quality time with the kids, even if it is just listening to what happened that day.

9. Spouse time.... A MUST!!!! There has to be communication, even if it is cleaning up the supper dishes together. Your wife/husband is a gift from God to be treasured. Share, listen, love.

10. Bed time.... a long day, earns needed rest... pray and give thanks to God for all the blessings of that day, thanking Him in advance for the sleep, and the day to come. Thank Him for the fact that even if tomorrow doesn't come, you have a place because of His greatest gift in Christ Jesus.


When you wake up start a # 1 and do it all again.
I like to call this 10 steps to contentment, you can call it what you like, but that is how I'm going to start my year, and I'm starting it tomorrow

Merry Christmas

Well... it's been a while since I've posted anything. While I have had plenty to say, there either hasn't been time, or I didn't have much to say that was of good nature.

Today is the day after Christmas, and I hope those who read this had a good one. I also hope that you had opportunity (if you are a believer) to worship and give rememberance for this season and just why Christ was born. If you are not a believer, well I do pray and hope that you found some revelation in your life that brought you closer to God.

As I said before, this is the day after, the big let down, the day when everything that didn't fit went back or everything that wasn't what you wanted went back.

As for me, I got to celebrate Christmas morning in my own house, with my wife and all 4 kids were there to open gifts and have some quality family time. A lazy day was spent after we had some family over for Christmas dinner, and of course, I got a pretty good nap in during the afternoon hours. Sources say that it was a very good nap because of the excessive snoring comming from the living room. Aw well.

New tradition that started last year and has spilled over to this year also. Nerf Dart Tag.
Pam & I against Tyler & Blake. Yes, we each have our own weapons, and the whole house is the battleground. During one of these intense battles, I attempted to dive over the couch to better position and cover, my foot caught on a cushion and I landed on my shoulder ( the bad one) re-injuring it. Pam told me later that we are not 16 anymore and such di-doe's are gonna hurt.

Later, when we had Blake cornered downstairs and we mounted an assult to eliminate him, I rushed down the stairs, she followed at a slightly (okay much) slower pace and sprained a toe on the stairs. I had to inform her that we weren't 16 anymore and such di-doe's were gonna hurt.

After the battles, it was decided that the boys had won the war, though Pam & I made a good fight of it and took the field on several battles. We then afforded ourselves the celebration of lounging in the living room, feasting on Pizza Rolls, and watching Alvin & the Chipmunks.

As I stated, today is the day after, it's going to be mid 60's for a short time, I have a few small things to accomplish at the shop, and then.... I'm jumping on the scooter for a little after Christmas R & R. It might only amount to a couple of hours or 30 minutes, but I feel the need for the wind in my face the Lord on my heart, and that Harley rumble in my ears.

Proud Dad ! ! ! !

Well it's November 4th, Election Day. While I'm glad this day has come, I'll be even happier when it's gone. I'm worn to a frazzle by campaign ads, complicated rhetoric, and ad de-generation from mud slinging to "Poo Slinging". BUT.... there is a very bright spot in this day for me.

This morning I had the pleasure of accompanying my daughter to her first election.
I remember a couple of days before I turned 18 ( which was a long time ago ), my Pop reminded me that on my Birthday I needed to get 2 things done, register to vote and register for Selective Service ( the Draft ). I have no idea whether my Pop was proud of me for doing it, but he did ask if I got it done.

Sometimes it's the little things for Dad's that makes us proud of our kids. This was one for me.
She had asked lots of questions about canidates and issues, I answered as best I could. She also had talked with friends and others at work just like the rest of us. The important thing is, she registered AND followed through with her commitment, priveledge, and duty as a citizen.

I believe when our kids take that step from just registering to actually going through the process, we as parents need to realize that we have witnessed our young ones stepping out and stepping up to their civic duty as Americans. They may not be the best informed, they may have not studied the issues as thoroughly as many older citizens, but they did participate.

In my family, "if you don't vote, don't gripe", Courtney will now have the right to voice her opinion, her beliefs, her protest, and her praise of her government with the clear conscience of a citizen of the United States of America. Yes, I'm very proud that I had the honor of accompanying her on this "first".

I have a pretty good idea on how she voted based on her questions and views she had stated previously. But.. in the end... to me it matters less about who she voted for and more that she voted for who and what she thought was best for our country.

I also believe that we as parents should, when asked by our kids, about issues, we do our level best to present the facts in an unbiased way. Don't just say vote for this one because of this, or you can't vote for that one because of that. We have a responsibility to teach them to reason, follow their conscience, and think for themselves.

Anyway... enough of that....

I will end with this though because I can't resist.....she did take a conservative view

Believers Prepare Yourselves !!!!!!

I will be very happy when this election is over. I've decided that regardless of outcome, I will definately be praying for our government officials, both Reps & Dems, because they're going to need it and it is the scriptural thing to do.

The reason for the title is this: Historically speaking, the Christian faith has done very well when it has been persecuted. Don't get me wrong, I'm not especially excited that our world has come to this, but in some strange deranged way, I'm looking forward to the challenge, and yes, proving my faith.

For a long time now Christians have been very good about jumping into the political arena and voicing their views on morality and justice when it comes to governmental issues. (especially at election time)
Great! Fine! Terrific!! Now....

When we ban together every couple to four years or so, we manage to look like the run of the mill PAC, Lobbyist, or annoyance. We shout, complain and condemn, and declare that we ain't gettin none of ours.
Sound a little harsh?... I'm sorry..... just trying to give some perspective. let's move on now.

If Christians want to get in the middle of the government game, Okay, just make it a consistent stay there so that you will be known for what and who you are.

Can we change the government? Nope. Will we be able to overturn Roe v. Wade in a heartbeat? Nope. We could elect the most profound and dedicated Christian of our day to the Presidency and how much would it change? Not much at all. The poor guy (or gal) would not be able to accomplish squat.

The general public votes on one or two issues at the most. On top of that, the general public is not one bit concerned with your problems, they are concerned with theirs. Get over it!!
This economic and political mess that we've got didn't happen over night. Our country's Post Modern view took decades to develop.

I know you are thinking that I'm condemning the Christians for this mess..... nope not at all.
But I will ask a few questions to ask yourself, because I've had to ask them of myself.

1. How many times have you shared the gospel this week?
2. This month?
3. This year?
4. When was the last time you did some charity work or volunteer for a secular or non-secular event?

The reason for the questions is this: Voters vote based on what is the most important to them right now. You won't see a 20 year old kid throwing his hands up about social security reform.

SHARE YOUR FAITH !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Just maybe if we were a little more obedient in spreading the gospel ?..... then?......Hmmmm

We can't and won't be able to significantly change anything until we start sharing our faith and the Holy Spirit changes hearts. Take it to the streets and talk to people, let them know with your words and actions that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Be BOLD ! ! ! ! ! !

Here's the back half of this edition. As I said before, our faith is about to be tested. We will be persecuted because we do not support gay marriage, abortion, trees & bunnies first.

alright, make my day and persecute me. I'm still not going anywhere.

Did I Mention, I'm Married ?








Sometimes a guy just has to stop and take stock of where he is, what he is , and where he's going. Then, if he's got a lick of smarts to him, he'll think on how he got where he is now, and just who is responsible. LOL! For some, that could get you in trouble.





Seriously though, I'm going to take a minute and say a few words about my wife.

I'm sure there are those out there that when asked if you are happily married you'd say " Yes, I'm married and she's happy" , but I'm sure most of you would say yes I am with pride.

We've been married for about five and a half years now, and no better companion a guy could ask for. Today is her birthday and while I will remain a gentleman and NOT disclose her age, I will disclose a few things about her that makes her special.


She is quick to smile, loves to laugh (just as much at herself), is kind, polite, generous, a true lady (you have to be a woman before you can be a lady and she hits both marks), she's real easy on the eyes, a comfort to the heart.


She loves the Lord first and foremost, a great mom, wife, friend.









She has passion for ministry ( our motorcycle ministry, youth, single mom's)

Yep.. the apple of my eye. But there's something else...


A little over a year ago, she was in a near head on collision by a guy who crossed the center line. This crash could have and likely should have killed her or at the very least damaged her severly. God's hand of protection was on her. Yes, there are still some physical difficulties from this, but she is here, now, with me still, we have a lot of work yet to do with our families and in our ministry.
I thank God every day for this blessing, and that I still have my mate to help with this ministry.

Selmore Bike Run 2008

Here at Selmore Baptist Church we have held a Bike Run to support "Least of These" food pantry in Nixa. This year was the 3rd annual and it was a success!



Bill & Lance.... Blockers, sacraficial Lambs however you want to put it, these are the guys who put themselves in harm's way to keep the cagers from thumping us at intersections..

I honestly wish I could say that I had a lot to do with it, but that just wouldn't be the truth.

Our Summit Sunday School class sponsors this event and this year like the past years they have come through like the champs they are. Food prep., organization, set up.. you name it, they get-r-done. Thay make it so all we have to do is greet riders, have fellowship and spread the message of Christ where we can. Yep, without them, we would be bogged down with the details and never get to know the other riders. We couldn't do it without them.

We managed to raise over 500.00 for the charity, we will consider it pretty good considering the economic strain on so many families. No one was hurt, no one died, all made it back safely to ride another day.


It is so nice to be part of a church that not only will let you put on these outreach events, but you have young and not so young in the church pitching in to help. I have so many pic's but only a small amount of space. I would love to include pic's of everyone but it just can't happen. However, there are two pic's that I have to include before I end.

In Search of BBQ in Arkansas













Last weekend my wife & I, along with road partners Jeff & Liz embarked on a 4 day weekend trip (5 yrs. since last trip for Pam & I). This was to be a nice relaxing no time limit cruise through central and NW Arkansas. I'm going to tell you right now that this 4 day trip has enough material for at least 3 Blog entries, so be ready.

While planning this excursion, Jeff and I were doing some looking around and planning to eat at some of the best known area BBQ joints. This was not a trip for eating at chain establishments. This was to be a true road rider trip, eating at local dives where you always find the best food.


Russellville found us at Stoby's, not a BBQ joint, but a really cool atmosphere with trains and such. If you have the opportunity, check it out.





Then Hot Springs had a well known famous BBQ joint that is based in Little Rock. We found it!

Doors closed, out of business.. had to settle for Mexican. The food wasn't bad, had a guy singing Mariachi style with an occasional Whoop!, which Jeff began to imitate rather well.




Still suffering from BBQ withdrawl, we found ourselves in Ft. Smith the next day. The guy at the Harley Dealership said that "Wilson's Rib Shack" (also a biker bar) was the best. We went.








Jeff & I ordered ribs, our wives ordered pulled pork, and our guts ordered Imodium AD, Tums, with a side of Bllllaaaaggggghhhh! Poor ol' Jeff took one bite of the ribs and quietly said "they lied", the girls who ordered pulled pork, well..... it was spoiled... smelled bad, tasted worse.



We've now dubbed it the Wretch SHack. We wound up making a fast trip to Braum's for Ice Cream to get the taste out of our mouths. We did come to the conclusion however that if a biker were to drink enough beer there he would certainly blame the drink rather than the food..LOL



Finally, Sunday night found us in Eureka Springs and there was of course Bubba's, we knew this was good, but the girls just weren't in the mood for BBQ at that point. so it was Ermillios, a fine Italian Dining joint, food was good, well prepared, atmosphere was kinda fruity, after all it was Eureka Springs.



We have come to the conclusion that there just ain't much good BBQ in Arkansas, after several hundred miles of windingf roads, incredible views, and mountains galore, we made it to Nixa.



Almost home, BBQ withdrawl running rampant, guts churning for that good ol' smokey BBQ taste. "BUMSTEADS!!!!!!" Whew! finally, something palatable.

Crucify Her!, Crucify Her!

I've been away on a little mini-vacation (can't wait to blog on that), when during the news in an obscure motel room, I hear that McCain has named Sarah Palin to be his running mate in "08.
SLAM DUNK! I'll admit, I don't know that much about the lady (yes, I said LADY), but in the last 4 or 5 days, I've been able to find out a whole bunch.

I usually try to keep out of a lot of politics because I get so irritated so fast, I'm registered as an independent voter for the reason that I personally think that Reps and Dems, harbor anti-christs at every turn, they just can't get enough power to complete the mission.
I said all that to say this:

Sarah Palin, former small town Mayor, Ok, she was successful at it because they wanted her to be govenor. Successful small town Mayor also translates to geee, we didn't over complicate things. Then Govenor of one if not the least populated state in the union. BOOM! Successful there too!

I have something for the Demosee's ( Dwaynism: meaning; cross between Democrat and Pharisee. alternate spelling; Dimosee, when Dim witted democrat and Pharisee are crossed)

You talk about standing up for the little guy/girl, you preach about everyone having opportunity, equal rights, equality for all.

Of all the dirtiest mud, let's go after her kids, one is pregnant 17 SOOOOO WHaaaT!!!!

tell me how pure your kids are, show me how you've never been in a compromised position, prove to me that you have never ever not in a million years ever anything.

Leave the kids out of it.... period!

So far what I'm seeing is that the Democrats are throwing a fit because they don't have anyone who could compare. Lack of experience in Big government, so what, we all know and have seen where a life of experience in big government goes.

Foreign policy experience?, well considering where her state of Alaska is located and how far away she is from D.C., to me that is as good as foreign policy.

Yes, I'm rambling, so I'll shut up... I just get real tired of politicians, and parties that never try to win by building, but destroy first, and then rebuild it in their own image.

Movin' Dirt and takin' names

Four years that I have been at my home church. Four years that our Building Commitee has laboured intensly for a new sanctuary. Last weekend we did another ground breaking (for real this time), and today I stopped by to drop off some equipment submittals to our Project Manager. I was unable to volunteer today, and with regret too. There in the hole in the ground was a very pleasing sight. One of our members who has donated time and equipment to move the dirt, and my Pastor and our newest patched member of our "Bikers for Christ chapter" tying rebar for the footings.

I couldn't help but feel pride in what I saw, and I mean a righteous pride. Just for a bit of background let me ramble on what I felt. There was a man in our church (Joe) who just a few months ago had his neck broke in a truck accident, but was there with his family and equipment to do a job. WOW!!!!
Then there is our newly patched BFC member, Oscar "Cornbread", who has taken time to volunteer in 90 degree heat, I'll tell ya something about ol' Oscar. When he first got his scooter (Hog), I honestly didn't think he'd ever settle down with the throttle enough to accept his responsibility to the Motorcycle Ministry and get his patch. Well he finally did, got his patch, has ridden with a bigger purpose ever since, and I'm here to tell ya, he's going to be one of my most dedicated warriors for the gospel. I can just tell it.

Then there's the Pastor (Josh) , in overalls, sweat soaked, working like the man he is. I'm gonna brag on him a little. He's under 30 leading a church full of real men and real women. No offense intended to pastors of churches, but there are few I've known who would get out there and mix it up in the dirt, sweat like a maniac and still keep that big grin of his going.

I think I can honestly that I have a case of righteous pride for the real MEN in our church, not because of their abilities, but because of what God has given them to do and they do it, no questions, no negotiations, no whinning, just do it. What a pleasure it is to know that I can count on them to do the right thing everytime, all the time because of what the Lord has done in their lives. Yep... can't wait to get in there with'em.

Liars & Thieves

I woke up this beautiful morning and crawled in my van to go to work, and WHAM!!! I noticed all my pens were out of the cup I put change in, checked the cup and yes... all my anti-dehydration change was gone! I had forgotten to lock my van. Looked again and my wallet was also gone. BOOM!!!! credit cards, debit cards, Drivers Lic., insurance card, all of it

There are two things in this world that I have a very hard time dealing with. Lying & Thievery!

I only had about 15-20 bucks in cash at the most. The plastic only takes a couple of phone calls to replace and freeze the account, but what I'm really dreading is my Drivers License.

Did you know? That in our illustrious state of Missouri, to get a license renewed, or replaced takes and act of the INS & Dept. of Homeland Security.

Yes, my friends, you have to have picture ID's, SS card, two other forms of ID, a couple of pieces of mail, Birth Certificate, Green Card, Purple card, Sears card, and likely your last Birthday Card.

But I DON'T have a green card, I'm an American, caucasion, 45, thinning hair on top, with gray in my beard from trying to make a living in this country with the economy in the toilet.
I don't have a picture ID, they took it. I don't have a Sears card, their interest is too high and I don't really like their stuff. I do have a couple of birthday cards though, but I'd have to prove they were for me!!!!!!

Yes, I have a very hard time with thieves. For a woman they would feel for lack of a better term " raped and pillaged", for guys...... It's more like "hey there little coward, come and take it from me and we can find out how amitious you are"

Yeah, I think that's it... when guys get stolen from it's and insult, because you didn't have the opportunity to make the poor sucker earn what he really wanted.

Christian Bikers ward off Hoodlums

Funny thing. To the general public the "Christian Biker" is no different than any other. Saturday evening last my wife and I along with 2 other couples decided to storm "Branson Landing" to terrify and bewilder all at "Famous Dave's BBQ", Harley's roaring, leather vests and Patches, declaring our mission of who we were and what we were about.

Of course you get stared at... that's part of the mystery, but after a tremendous meal of good BBQ, good fellowship we retired outside the establishment taking in the cool evening air and atmosphere of the Landing at night.
It wasn't but a few minutes then there was a small group of boys wearing their street thug attire roaming around. We of course had our chuckles amongst ourselves as to the terror these boys were projecting. We didn't get the opportunity to chat with these young gents, but we did notice that just behind us was a mother and her 2 young'uns. She stated that they were getting the creeps from these rather harmless, and mis-directed "utes". That they had run across them a couple of times and they had gotten kind of rowdy down the way earlier.

She stated that she had seen us standing there and the safest place she could think of to be was behind a group of bikers.

While they were preparing to go inside for supper, and we were about ready to leave, we didn't get a big opportunity to chat, but we did give each of the kids one of our "Biker Coins" with scripture and the plan of salvation.

It was a very good evening and Oscar, who is a new Patched member now has his nickname.

A Faith for Men

Before I get slammed for being a sexist because of this title, I want all to know I am not one.
I'm just curious and wish to ask a few questions, and hopefully answer a few, and overall clear some mud. Ladies, you may answer these also, but they are mostly directed for guys.


Do you regularly attend church services? if so, how often? if not, why?



What do you like best or least about your church?


Do you attend Sunday School or any other Bible study outside regular service?
why or why not?


Do you find church offering a challenge?

The " Biker"

I got this on an e-mail one time and kept is around. For those who can't get past the assumption that all people on two wheels are bad and vicious, here's something to take notice to.

THE BIKER
I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection outside thestore as I walked in.
I saw you; pull your child closer when we passed each other on thesidewalk.But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.
I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant.But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for thehurricane relief.
I saw you , roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by.But, you didn't see me, riding behind you when you flick ed your cigarettebutt out the car window.
I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children.But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.
I saw you, stare at my long hair.But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.
I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves.But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none.
I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos. But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born and have their name written over and in my heart.
I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.
I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into mylane.
I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.
I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.but, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.
I saw you, race down the road in the rain.But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.
I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.
I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me, leave the road.
I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.
I saw you, go home to your family. But, you didn't see me. Because, I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker.

A person with friends and a family. But, you didn't see me.

This is in hopes that people will understand the biker community.
I hope younever loose someone that rides.

Motorcycle Fatalities on the Rise

There has been a lot of press in the last few months about the increase in motorcycle crashes and fatalities. Kinda makes you wonder why..... let's see if we can find out.

A Lady recently told me to be very careful, because there's been a lot of crashes and deaths lately and most (over half) were on bikes. I told her that I agreed, I had heard the tragic news myself. I had no choice but to reply with this. "Yes, they should take all of those hospital expenses, and funeral expenses and send them to Congress to be paid". When she asked why, I simply said " the reason is because there's a lot of folks buying and riding that have no business on a motorcycle, they are riding out of desperation to save money because of outrageous fuel prices" Yes, there is an economic side to increased riders on the road.

Unfortunately, most of these deaths are riders with 2 years or less experience. Does that mean that those with more experience are imune? Nope, it just means that things happen fast on the road and you'd better be able to react fast ( mostly with the throttle), Motorcycling is a great fuel saver, it is one of the best things in life I can think of for relieving stress, but with that, we need to pay attention. The cagers (cars) have no mercy or sense, they can text, dial the phone, read the Wall Street Journal, apply make-up, drink a soda, and kill people all at the same time, and in the end when there is a bike laying on the side of the road dead or dying, there is always the popular apology " ooops, my bad".

I saw a helmet sticker one time that read " 15 miles and 15,000 dollars don't make you a biker"
To my fellow scooter trash out there is say " keep your mind on the road, how many of these incidents could have been avoided if YOU were paying attention", "ride like your life depended on it"

To the cagers out there who think that what they are doing and where they are going is infinitely more important than anyone else, I say this " Pay attention, some of these riders aren't real nice when they get cut off, and some get real mean when you cause them to drop their ride"

God's Time

God's time. A term we all like to use now and then to let others know that we are being patient with our wants or needs or encouraging others until he is ready to fulfill them according to His plan.



Very commendable and yes, whether we truly feel it in our hearts or not is beside the point. I was instead going to take this in a whole different direction.



Let's assume that we are members of a Motorcycle Ministry and we are at a Rally to share our faith, hand out tracts, so on & so forth. Or let's assume we are doing VBS, or on a mission trip with our church and we are ministering to kids and families. Now let's assume our church is having an outreach project and inviting people from all over the neighborhood, town, or county to reach the unchurched or barely churched.

We are gung ho to get there and do the Lords work, we are on a mission and there is nothing going to get in our way. OOOOOPS! you guessed it .. yes .. absolutely.... YOU GOT IN THE WAY!!!!!



Have you ever been on an outreach project, found yourself chatting with one of your team buddies and during your conversation about " how we're gonna set this place to rolling" you kind of glance around and see a lot of unfamiliar faces around? yet you keep your conversation going with your buddy, or at that bike rally you've got a handful of tracts and coins but you never seem to find anyone to give them to, yet you did find a couple of good deals on chaps, or a booth that's selling the coolest rally t-shirts? Ever been on a VBS team and seen a strange kid looking kind of lost, not knowing where to go or what to do, and you quietly watch them pass by as you continue to look past them to your next duty?



Yes, I've been guilty a few times.. those are the times I remember, not counting the times I did it and was too busy with my own world to pay attention to my mission. So There.. I admitted it...can you? will you? have you?



That's what brings us to the title... God's time

When we are in a situation as this we are on God's time, not ours....His mission, for His work, to be obedient to His will according to His word.

At a rally or outreach event we are there for Him and we should keep our minds to our task.
If you see a person you don't know at an out reach event, it doesn't matter that they are friends of brother Bill or sister Cindy, we don't know them but they need to know us.

That little confused kid could be the next Billy Graham, or an angel among us checking our Christian resolve. I have pondered this a lot. Believe it or not, I've even lost sleep over this issue.

Thinking back, one of the reasons I'm in the church I attend now or at all is because the firm handshake and the reaching out of those whom I met in that church. On the street or on out reach projects is where the metal meets the road, where we need to rely on the Holy Spirit, pull out all the stops, get up all the courage we can muster and simply say "Hi".

There is some statistic out there that states that 1 in 50 church goers shares their faith once in a year. I don't remember the actual number but it is incredibly scary.
If we were to truly put on the whole armor of God, then it would be 1 in 50 who don't share.

Let's say Hi, be friendly, leave good tips, share who we are, build some relationships, and maybe, just maybe, this country would change, one heart at a time.

Being Boss or Bossy

It is amazing the things we think about at any given moment on any given day. Just this afternoon I was thinking back to one of my favorite phrases from a very little remembered movie. The movie was "Space Camp", and in the movie there was a very skilled and talented young lady who was just chomping at the bit to be in command ( or so I remember). Because of her skill and confidence, she was always jumping in and trying to take control of the situation and everyone else.

You know those kind, they are so good at their job that they want to do yours too because it can effect theirs and they want control over the outcome no matter what because their life, their career, their growth, their glory, their reputaion, their total being might be messed up or they will be less thought of because they are so good and it's all about THEM! and YOU might mess it up!

Well... her mom told her that being Boss and being Bossy are two different things.

While over the years I've thought about this phrase often, not because I liked the movie but because of the simple truth of the statement. I've thought about the age of a person, experience of a person, maturity, all kinds of factors that would affect such definition of the two, and I've come to a few conclusions.

1. The biggest culprit with being Bossy comes from pride
2. A Bossy person is likely overly competetive
3. A Bossy person is so confident in their ability that they rarely can see that anyone else
has any ability at all. (unless of course it strongly enhances their ability)
4. A Bossy person looks first at who the blame should fall on in case of eminent or potential
failure. (they never seem to have any flaws themselves though)
5. A Bossy person loves the one letter word "I" and they use it often.


1. The Boss, leads with humility
2. The Boss, knows there's a bigger picture.
3. The Boss, knows that those in his/her charge all have talents and abilities.
4. The Boss, takes and accepts the responsibility of the outcome of the job or project.
5. The Boss, uses a two letter word "WE"


I'm sure there are about a thousand books that cover this subject much more scientificly than I
have, but in a nutshell, that's the way I see it.

the way my Pop always said " I don't need to know everything about it or how to do it, I just need to have the right people with me who do".

Yeah Pop... you're a pretty smart guy

The Price of Liberty

This was sent to me and I've read it before, but I will print it here so that all may see & realize what Liberty costs. Those who know me are aware of my love for our country and it's heroes who built it. Please read, think, ponder & pray for our country and its leaders.


The Price of Liberty
Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence ?
Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.
Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.
Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they?
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants, Nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated, But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.
Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.
Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery,Hall, Clymer,Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.
At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.
Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.
John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.
Some of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn't.
So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Faith in the U.S. on the Rise

I was watching the evening news last night and they had incredible statistics on the Rise of Faith in the U.S., also in this were statistics that about 53% of Protestants, and some 60% of Catholics doubt the existance of God. Yet, are spending time in church. Ok

Then this morning I'm reading about Sen. Obama wooing Evangelicals as to increase his appeal to the Religious voter. Key words here are "increase appeal", I don't know about anyone else but in my little mind, the term wreaks of used car salesman ( no offense to the good honest ones out there), to increase appeal automatically sends up a flag that "I'm not about to give you what you want or need, but as long as you percieve that you are, I'll get what I want and need" and you get to pay for it. Hmmm, yep sounds pretty close to me.

I think I'll run for President in 2012... think anyone would vote for me?

June 21 Ride

Saturday, for the first time this season my wife and I were able to get away and ride together. It was about a 200 mile round trip with Jeff & Liz into Arkansas & back by way of the Peel Ferry. The bad thing about this month is the amount of rain. Yes, you guessed it, ran into thunderstorm weather on the way back. We didn't get too wet but did get chilly.

There is an ol' biker truth that "Only Bikers know why dogs hang their head out the window".
In this truth is the simple fact that for me, cruising through the Ozark Mountains with my Hog under me and my wife behind me and a friend beside me, just doesn't get any better. I cherish the time on the road, it's relaxing, relieves the stresses of the day and generally prepares you for a really nice nap for when you get home. Had some pretty tasty BBQ in Mountain Home, the roads were in pretty good shape, not too hot, not too cool, all around great day.
